GEDC Board Member Honored with Excellence in Leadership

First National Bank Senior Vice President Angie Brown Recognized by Indpendent Bankers Association of Texas
Austin, TX (June 12, 2015) - The Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) honored Giddings Economic Development Corporation Board Member Angie Brown, senior vice president of First National Bank of Giddings, with its 2015 Excellence in Leadership Award. Brown was presented this prestigious award during the IBAT Leadership Conference held in San Antonio, June 11-12, 2015.
To be considered for the award, one must be a member of the IBAT Leadership Division. This person demonstrateds a long history of personal commitment to and financial support of the 625-member division, which was founded in 1985 and is dedicated to the development of tomorrow's leaders in community banking. Recipients of the award must selflessly donate their time to promote, support and serve independent bankers of Texas.
"Angie Brown exemplifies what leadership means at her bank and in her community," said Chris Williston, IBAT president and chief executive officer. "IBAT is proud to present her iwth this year's Excellence in Leadership Award. She deserves this honor and so much more for her tireless support of IBAT and the community banking industry."
Brown has been a board member of the Leadership Dividoins since 2004, including her role as presdient from 2011-2012, and helped the Division evolve into the 13 regions it is today. In addition to participating in the IBAT Congressional Visits inWashington, D.C. to promote community banking, she also attends IBAT regional meetings and IBAT Leadership Divison regional meetings.
She is a proven leader not only within her bank, but also in her community. Brown helps organize the local county fair and rodeo, raises money for the Rural Texas Tourism Center and Giddings Volunteer Fire Department, and is involved in any project that benefits children. She is a current board member of the Giddings Economic Development Corporation and served two terms on the Chamber of Commerce Board.
