Golf Cart Dealership Under New Ownership, Expands Inventory
26 Mar 2019
Giddings, TX (March 26, 2019) – The Giddings Economic Development Corporation has approved a grant of $10,000 to Good Bull Golf Carts, LLC. The company, which had operated as Randy’s Golf Carts in Giddings since 2012, is under new ownership and has relocated from its leased space on the west side of Giddings to a much larger property on the east side of town.
Owners J.B. and Sara Rutherford, formerly of Sherman, Texas, purchased the company in October 2018 and moved operations to 4090 East Austin Street shortly thereafter. The property, which includes a house and a commercial metal building, was most recently occupied by the Longoria Plumbing Company, but had sat empty for several years and was at risk of becoming blighted.
With the aid of the grant, the company has begun renovating the property to include a 5,000 sq foot maintenance facility, showroom, and design studio, and a house for an employee/ watchman. The property also includes space for test-driving the golf-carts.
In addition to expanding and upgrading its physical environment, the Rutherfords have also begun expanding and scaling their inventory and services. Previously the company’s primary clients included regional golfers and ranchers, with carts purchased and customized for personal use and sent back to the company for maintenance and repairs.
While the new owners will continue to serve existing markets, they are also expanding their reach through corporate contracts with medical facilities and other fleet purchasers whose utility vehicles are designed and customized for passenger transport across institutional campuses.
Recently, the company also made inroads into a select market after applying and receiving approval to operate as an authorized Club Car Dealership. Club Car has operated for 60 years as an industry leader in innovation and design, first of golf carts and eventually with commercial utility vehicles and personal-use transportation. As an authorized Club Car Dealers, Good Bull can provide customizing services through their on-site design center and is also able to expand their offerings to include custom accessories such as brush guards, light kits, toolboxes, cabs and more.
“As with so many of our projects, our goal with this award is multi-dimensional. Our funds will help retain an existing business, aid with expansion, improve commercial property, reduce blight and create new jobs. Given the location of the property and the fact that Good Bull is an authorized dealer for a well-known luxury product, we are also going to benefit from brand equity provided Club Car and the improved landscape for those entering the city from the east. The fact that we are gaining an experienced and friendly management team as a part of our business community is a bonus,” stated Tonya Britton, Giddings Economic Development Director
Also, on Monday, the Giddings City Council completed the second and final reading of the resolutions approving business development grants awarded by the Giddings Economic Development Corporation. Becs Blessing, a newly constructed $2.5 million assisted living facility, received a total award of $50,000 to be paid over the course of two budget years; and STP Holdings received an award of $20,000. The company has purchased and the “Faske Building” on Highway 290 near downtown and will be renovating the building to increase parking to the rear and to accommodate Schultz Texas Properties and one other tenant.
