FunTown RV Opens Fifth Location in Giddings

Giddings, TX (March 4, 2016) - The Giddings Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) is pleased to announce that Fun Town RV, the nation’s largest towable RV dealer, has added a fifth location in the Central Texas town of Giddings, and is now open for business.

In August, FunTown RV purchased a nine-acre stretch of land on the west side of Giddings that was formerly occupied by a car dealership and spent several months renovating the facilities, bringing the buildings up to code, and preparing the site for sales and maintenance services. The property, which had been vacant for several years, offers direct access to Highway 290, and allows plenty of space for fifth wheels, travel trailers, toy haulers, and ATV’s.   

“The facility made sense for us,” said Jarrod McGhee, CEO of Fun Town RV LLP.  “With the explosive growth of the ‘Golden Triangle’ between Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, we felt like the market conditions and timing were just right.; and the community of Giddings has been incredibly receptive. The existing service facility was constructed in such a way that will make it perfect for RV use. The land is on a major highway in between Austin and Houston, so it will be easy for customers to find,” he added.

Industry veteran Charlie Minnick has been tapped to helm the opening of the 5th Fun Town RV location in Texas. Minnick has been in the RV industry for over 20 years, most recently as regional general manager for Fun Town.  "The Central Texas market has really been underserved in the RV industry,” offered Minnick. “Not only in sales, but on the service side as well. We hope to offer shoppers the selection and pricing that Fun Town RV has become famous for, but offer RVers from all over a central location for quick, competent service.”

While the Giddings facility won’t be near the size of the flagship megastore in Cleburne, featuring over 1,200 units in stock on 60 acres and four indoor showrooms, the new site will serve a slightly different purpose. “We feel like this area of Central Texas needs a good RV service facility to service the thousands of RV’s being sold in Texas,” offered McGhee. “We will open with a focus on service, and will build up the sales as we go.”

Initially, Fun Town plans to employ at least 40 people in both sales and service. While the company has been open for sales since mid-December, the management team plans to host a Grand Opening in late spring.
