Holiday Small Business Shopping and More in Giddings

The holiday season is a magical time, full of merriment and gift-giving and neighborly support. At the heart of the holiday season are the small, local businesses that put on magical events, invite Santa to town, and make sure everyone in Giddings gets into the Christmas spirit. These local heroes rely on this time of year to keep their doors open and their families supported. To that end, the Giddings Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) would like to spotlight some of the events arriving this holiday season. Christmas Lane of Lights in Ledbetter

‘Tis the season once the Christmas lights are up! For a fun family holiday event for all ages, tour the Christmas Lane of Lights in Ledbetter. Enjoy a hayride through a lighted path of Christmas reflections, accompanied by live music and a Santa sighting! The Lane of Lights opens Thanksgiving weekend and will be available every Friday and Saturday until Christmas. Proceeds go to the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department putting on the event, so please show them your support.

Small Business Saturday Vendor Event at Sixth Street Spirits Distillery

If you happened to miss the Sip & Shop event the weekend before Thanksgiving, or if you’re still in the mood for a little more holiday shopping, Sixth Street Spirits Distillery will be hosting local vendors throughout Small Business Saturday! Grab a drink, listen to some live music on the back dock, and shop local.

Since being founded in 2010, Small Business Saturday has become an integral part of our local businesses’ shopping season. The holiday serves to recognize the profound impact small businesses have on our local economy and community. Money spent within the community stays within the community, supporting jobs and local services. The GEDC hopes that Giddings residents continue to show their support for their local businesses and shop small this holiday season.

Giddings Public Library Christmas Open House

On December 12, the library will host its annual holiday open house. From 11 AM to 5 PM, enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and other complimentary Christmas treats while talented local performers dazzle and entertain and make merry with cheer. At 3:30 PM, sit down to a special Christmas children’s storytime. And rumor is, after storytime, Santa will make an appearance! Once he’s done cross-referencing his naughty-and-nice list with the library’s overdue books, he’ll be available for pictures and to hear all about what you’d like to see in your stocking come Christmas morning. Bring the whole family to the Giddings Public Library on Dec. 12 for that home-for-the-holidays feeling.
