GIDDINGS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
NOTICE OF INTENT TO UNDERTAKE A PROJECT(S): EMERGENCY COVID RELIEF GRANTS (March 25, 2020)


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Giddings Economic Development Corporation (the "Corporation"), a non-profit corporation created pursuant to Section 4B of the Development Corporation Act of 1979, A1ticle 5190.6, Vernon=s Texas Civil Statutes, intends to undertake a project(s) to provide Emergency relief to businesses severely impacted by forced closures and restricted operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic; and to healthcare providers whose operations are severely impacted by increased
demand and/ or extraordinary operating requirements and financial stressors due to operating during the COVID-19 pandemic; and to local internet provider ZOCHNET to assist with emergency installation and expansion of internet and telecommunications infrastructure, hereafter referred to as (the "Project").

The above-described funds comprise three projects: (1) up to $120,000 for business expansion and retention; (2) up to $30,000 for healthcare business expansion and retention; (3) up to $50,000 for the’ expansion of broadband and telecommunications infrastructure. No single award will exceed $10,000.

These funds are being provided at the directive of the Giddings City Council in consultation with the City Attorney and due to the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the government directed forced closures, restrictions in operations, and quarantines that have severely and uniquely impacted the Giddings’ businesses, community, quality of life, and tax base.
