From tax savings to workforce training assistance, the state is known for being aggressively pro-business and offering incentives and programs to make projects work. Within the City of Giddings, incentives may include cash grants, tax rebates, and workforce development assistance.
We have worked closely with local businesses to help fund projects that lead to current and future expansions. From helping to fund real estate projects to equipment purchases, we step in to lend a hand in order to create jobs and grow our local economy. This includes providing almost $200,000 in grants during COVID-19 to businesses experiencing forced temporary closures and restricted operations; to healthcare providers in need of PPE and infectious disease CE; and for IT infrastructure to support the remote workforce by expediting the installation of last mile fiber optic.

The Governor’s University Research Initiative (GURI), enacted in 2015, is aimed at helping Texas public institutions of higher education recruit distinguished researchers from around the world to the State of Texas. The program seeks to bolster both the standing of Texas public colleges and universities and economic development efforts statewide.
