Program overview:

This program will provide matching grants for eligible projects that are designed for improvement of business locations, to enhance the atmosphere of the Giddings business community. This grant program will encourage growth and promote the economic vitality of the Giddings business community. The Giddings Economic Development corporation has budgeted up to 415,000 in the 2007-2008 fiscal year to fund this grant program. Eligible businesses may apply for up to $1,500 through this matching grant program.

Goals of the Grant Program:

• To encourage growth and promote the economic vitality of the Giddings business community
• To support the Giddings business community in efforts for expansion, development and positive impact
• To encourage revitalization, renovation and development that enhances the atmosphere of the Giddings business community

Grant Program Criteria:

Businesses located in "commercially zoned" areas of Giddings are eligible to apply. Business must occupy the building or location submitted for consideration in grant application. Grant funds shall only be used for exterior elements of the business location visible to the general public. Projects must be consistent with promoting a positive impact for the Giddings business community. Projects must be permanent, not seasonal or temporary to be eligible for grant consideration. Project must be in compliance with City of Giddings Code of Ordinances. Business must submit complete plans and project description with application. Project must be completed within four months of grant approval. Grant awards will be paid upon completion of project and according to paid receipts for project, from contractors, suppliers, etc. other than grant business or property owner. Grants are limited to one per business in a fiscal year. Grants awarded must be matched by business for project.

• Interior projects
• Remediation
• Routine Maintenance
• Roofs and Roof Repairs
